N24 Taipei ARK·TPE connects the blockchain technology industry

As part of the Eastern Gateway Project, the Taipei City Government has built a startup corridor in Nangang linking the Neihu Technology Park and the Nangang Economic and Trade Park, and has established N24 Taipei ARK·TPE, the Taipei blockchain innovation incubation base. Today, 24 December, Taipei mayor Ko Wen-je, deputy mayor Huang Shan-shan, Department of Economic Development commissioner Lin Chung-chieh, and Kao Chi-chun, chair of the Taiwan Blockchain Enthusiasts Association — the operating team — marked the opening with a "connect the chain" ceremony, declaring the international blockchain-themed venue officially open. The base is intended to advance industrial applications of blockchain technology and help Taipei's emerging industries reach an international level. N24 Taipei ARK is a renovated former Taipower warehouse (AR1) brought back into use as a startup base, with a total floor area of 387 ping. Operated by the Taiwan Blockchain Enthusiasts Association, it houses a blockchain Living Lab, a themed exhibition space, meeting and networking spaces, and startup offices. Through co-creation workshops and a smart-retail demonstration area it forms a community cluster that draws in the surrounding neighbourhood, while the blockchain-themed venue serves as a landmark that can attract foreign investment and lift related industries to an international level, creating economic value. Ko Wen-je said: "By the end of this year Taipei has opened five startup bases: t.Hub, POPOP TAIPEI, 13+ Taipei Innovation Habitat, MISA, and N24 Taipei ARK, which opens today. The aim throughout is to build a high-quality incubation environment and make Taipei the best city in Asia for innovation and entrepreneurship." The city government plans twenty-three startup bases, of which fifteen are now operating. Since taking office the mayor has pursued a range of youth entrepreneurship policies, including the StartUP@Taipei service office, which provides funding resources, helps companies apply for the city's grants and loans, and runs a knowledge academy to develop talent — an end-to-end approach intended to help more people succeed in Taipei.
